Question:  I have a 30' row of Blue Lake Green Beans.  20' of them are doing great, but the last 10' are not.  The leaves are yellow and have never been the dark green that the other 20' have been.  What do I need to do?
Answer:  Hard to say with the limited information you give.  I assume you have looked for insects and you don't say anything about insect damage.  What is different about the position of that last row?  Is there a drainage problem there maybe?  Is the sun the same as in the other rows?  Are the plants spaced correctly?  Have you rotated the crops yearly?  There is something wrong, that's for sure, and it could very well be that you have a fungal or bacterial problem, especially if you are in an area that has had the unusually heavy rains this season.  The symptoms certainly fit.  If so, you will have to pull those plants and dispose of them in garbage bags (not in the compost pile).   It could also be root knot nematodes, which usually don't attack an entire planting, but rather are focused only on a certain area.  The limited symptoms you describe fit well with nematodes.  The only way to know for sure is to pull a plant and see if the roots have knots or swellings on them.  If so, pull and dispose of the plants as above, and if you plant anything else in that area, make sure it is a nematode resistant variety.
